The Elderberry Gardeners, u3a group, welcome anyone who would like to make friends with other garden lovers. We all like to visit gardens, enjoy our own gardens and to swap plants and seeds.

The EG’s meet once a month visiting ‘open for charity’ gardens on differing days of the week depending on when they are open.  We often have lunch or afternoon tea together in a nursery or garden centre, particularly in the colder months when few gardens are open.

Some visits last year included a very interesting tour of the production nursery at Olivers, Coggeshall,  Cressing Temple Barns, Braxted Park Estate, Polstead Mill gardens and enjoyed our Christmas lunch at Craft Nurseries.

We also take advantage of local commercial coach trips. In 2023 we went to Thriplow Daffodil festival.

We started our Elderberry’s Facebook closed group during lockdown and it remains a good place to post conversations, pictures of our plants and gardens and generally keep in touch. It is the ‘go to’ place for last minute changes to our arrangements or to let people know if we have any spare plants, seeds or magazines that we are bringing along if people want them.

Joining is by invitation, so, please contact us by clicking on one of the Group Leader links above, if you would like to enjoy the benefits of flowers, friendship and fresh air with us.
