'Nordic Walking is an enhancement of ordinary walking – it makes something we can all do…. twice as effective!'

Nordic Walking is a specific fitness technique that uses poles in a particular way that increases the use of the upper body. It can be done by anybody, anywhere and does not require expensive equipment or clothing. The difference between walking/hiking and Nordic Walking is the use of poles which means the upper body muscles are used as well as the legs. The poles help to propel you along – this means you work harder than usual, yet the support given by the poles makes it feel easier.

Nordic Walking is the fastest growing fitness activity in the world and is used by individuals, personal trainers, health clubs, physiotherapists, doctors and health promoters because it is highly effective, affordable and FUN!

Poles are available to hire, for which there is currently no charge. Places are limited based on the availability of the poles, so booking is essential.

Nordic Walking Group Bluebell Walk

On Tuesday 29th April we went on a walk around Hill house woods starting at Orpen hall in west Bergholt. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we heard a variety of birdsong including the nightingale and song thrush. The bluebells and wild garlic looked beautiful.

We had coffee after the walk in the sunshine at Orpen village hall.
