The Golf Group held their Summer Competition at Birch Grove Golf Club on Thursday 19th June. The course was in excellent condition and the event was played in glorious sunshine. The competition, which attracted a field of 31 members, was Individual Stableford. While the clear winner was Alan Blois with a score of 24 points it was very close for the runners up positions. Joint 2nd were Allan Wren and John Woodrow with 21 and joint 3rd, Caroline Spencer and Howard Bond on 20. Nearest the Pin on the 4th was won by Tim Thornton- Jones and on the 9th by Bernard Meadows who will never let us forget his 80-yard shot onto the green which finished 5 inches from the pin! After the competition players were joined by guests and all enjoyed an excellent ham or salmon salad lunch followed by strawberries and cream.
