On 12th September members from Stanway u3a Pétanque group travelled to Brightlingsea to play a friendly match with their members.

During the afternoon, around 24 players in total from both u3as divided up in several permutations to form teams to play on the 2 Brightlingsea rinks (or “pistes” as they are also referred to). The weather was kind and we played several games.

Brightlingsea playing surfaces are a bit different to ours so the home team had a distinct advantage. Brightlingsea also have some very good players who have been playing longer than many of our members so we were, shall we say, “put through our paces!” and learned a lot from their approach to the game.
