The Tuesday and Wednesday Pétanque group members recently competed for the annual, much coveted, Individual’s Trophy. 15 members attended over the 2-day event and thoroughly enjoyed the change to the normal team game, with many tense moments amid the friendly rivalry banter. The weather for this time of year was favourable, and play was followed by hot refreshments in the on-site café.
As it happens, one Tuesday member and one Wednesday member both managed to achieve the same high score. As we couldn’t arrange a play-off due to them attending different days they were announced as Joint 1st place winners.
Photos show Judy Newell and Charles Mallon receiving the trophy, which each will hold for 6 months, no doubt in pride of place on their mantlepiece!
The scores were VERY close - Judy and Charles scored 15 points each, new group member Stephen Trinder scored a respectable 14 points for 2nd place, and Keith Easterbrook scored 13 points for 3rd place. Well done all!
