On Tuesday and Wednesday 4th and 5th November the Pétanque groups held our annual singles competitions. The weather was favourable for this time of year.
Group members accrued personal points as opposed to playing and scoring in teams.
For each game, the nearest Boule to the “Jack” collected 3 points, second nearest 2 points and third nearest 1 point. Competition consisted of 13 games (“ends”) and on completion we tallied up the scores.
A winner was announced from each day. On both days the points for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were very close.
Stephen Trinder was the winner of the Tuesday group with 14 points. Runner up was last year’s winner Vera Jupp with 12 points and joint 3rd place went to Derek Wotton and Stevie Reeves with 10 points each.
Carolyn Mallon was winner of the Wednesday group, also with 14 points. Runner up was Dee Leppers with 13 points and 3rd place with 12 points went to Anna Ridsdale. Talk about close!
Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone that competed, we had a very enjoyable 2 days.
