Our Needles and Pins Group started life as taster sessions during the winter months but proved to be so popular that it soon became a fully-fledged group. We meet on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday afternoons each month in Stanway.
We have people teaching crochet to beginners, showing how to knit fair-isle and colour block, and learning to read patterns. Some are doing cross stitching and patchwork. We are also making knitted/ crochet teddies and are looking at making tiny hats for prem babies.
We’re a very sociable group who help and encourage each other while enjoying a nice cup of tea and a good natter.

STANWAY U3A MEMBERS HELP BUSY BEES March 2023
I would like to thank all those U3A members who provided fabric and thread for the charity bag making at Busy Bees on Friday 3rd march in the village hall.
Members will be delighted to know that more than 50 bags were produced during the evening along with much laughter, chatter and cups of tea and cake. I was ably assisted by Susan Catling.
We had tables for cutting out the fabric, sewing up the bags and straps, and finishing off threading the straps, along with a couple of ladies on the ironing boards. A veritable hive of activity. At the same time some ladies were knitting and crocheting baby jackets and blankets. This group do several craft items for various charities, and I was delighted to join regular members of Busy Bees in this worthwhile endeavour.
Thank you again for your support. Margaret Meen, Needles n’ Pins Group Leader
